So you have a paper shredder, how about a VPN? By Jihad Abou-Georgi

So you have a paper shredder for your important documents, and you have secured your WiFi connection at home with a password. All set right? Think again, you still need a VPN!

That internet connection of yours is still wide open to snooping, hackers and identity thieves. In fact, most of the data you transmit is insecure,  and traces of your activity (your visible public IP address) are being left everywhere you go.

Whether you are traveling with a laptop, or mobile device or even working from home – most of your data is moving back and forth over the internet in a way that can be captured and read. A solution for this is a personal VPN. A Virtual Private Network (VPN) does two things to increase your security. First, it encrypts all of the data traveling between you and the public internet using the same technology used by banks and the military to safeguard data. Second, it also makes you anonymous by temporarily replacing your public IP address with private one – so that prying eyes, greedy copyright lawyers, and other bad guys can’t determine who you are!

Using a VPN makes your internet connection more secure,  anonymous, and as a an added bonus – bypasses most filters setup by your local ISP, school, or government – ensuring that you are free from censorship.
